Topographic Maps
Topographic maps depict the surface of the earth as well as its natural and artificial cover.
The maps of the BEV - Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying are characterised by high information density, richness of detail, accuracy and up-to-dateness. The relief (hill shading) contributes to the visualisation of the topography.
Topographic maps are the direct result of aerial photograph interpretation and field-walking and are published nationwide. Regular updates and the consistency of the data, regarding content and structure, are the prerequisites for the high standard of the maps.
Application
The topographic maps of the BEV are available in the scales 1:25 000, 1:50 000, 1:250 000 and 1:500 000. They serve for information and orientation purposes and as a planning basis in the fields of leisure, the economy, administration, science, and the military and in many other applications.

BEV maps are traditionally published as paper maps; they are also available in digital form as Cartographic Models at the online shop of the BEV: www.bev.gv.at.
