Volume of Liquids other than water
The volume of streaming liquids is usually measured with flow meters that are calibrated with volumetric measuring instruments.
The capacity of a volumetric measuring instrument is determined by weighing and density measurement. Flow meters for all kinds of mineral oils with a maximum flow rate of 1500 l/min can be tested against BEV’s test rig.
Verification of Measuring Systems for Liquids other than Water
Measuring systems for continuous and dynamic measurement of liquids other than water are liable to verification in Austria. Such measuring systems are intricate devices assembled from several components, basically a flow meter and its auxiliary devices (i.e. pumps, filters, gas elimination devices, pressure valves, and stop valves) ensuring the proper functioning of the meter.
The first verification of a new instrument is called initial verification. The verification of an unverified instrument is a new verification. Verification during the validity period is a reverification.
The Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) has been applied in all EU Member States since October 30, 2006 regulating the first placing on the market of measuring instruments liable to verification.
These measuring instruments have to undergo a conformity assessment procedure.
Measuring systems for liquids other than water are included in the MID.
Modules B+D, B+F, G or H1 are applicable to measuring systems for the continuous and dynamic measurement of liquids other than water.
See also Measurement Instruments Directive MI-005.
The MID includes all kinds of measuring systems for liquids other than water.
Conformity assessment is equivalent to initial verification. Therefore allowing measuring systems with a conformity certificate be put into use without any further national type approval or initial verification.
New and subsequent verification of measuring systems for liquids other than water are subject to national regulations and performed by accredited verification bodies.
The reverification period for measuring systems for liquids other than water is 2 years.
