Strong Presence at the EuroCarto 2024 17.09.2024 - From September 9 to 11, cartography experts gathered at the TU Wien for the EuroCarto 2024. The Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying - BEV was also there and presented itself with a variety of products.
The BEV was represented at the EuroCarto 2024, the regional European Cartographic Congress of the International Cartographic Association (ICA), not only with lectures and poster presentations, but also with an informative stand, which presented the latest cartographic work of the BEV to around 350 participants. Congress Director Mag. Dr. Georg Gartner, Professor of Cartography at the TU Wien, highlighted this considerable commitment.
BEV employees took the opportunity to exchange in-depth information in numerous technical discussions and to make valuable contacts with colleagues from other European countries. At the BEV stand, visitors also received detailed information about BEV's histMAP and other innovative products.
For Dipl.-Ing. Andreas Pammer, Head of the Cartography Department at BEV, the large number of young scientists from all over Europe and overseas was particularly pleasant: “At the BEV stand we were able to get in touch with students and young researchers, but also with representatives of the ICA and other national cartography authorities from e.g. Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. People were interested in the histMap, the BEV's cartographic products and - the specialists - in our technical solutions for map production and web presentation as well as for submission via Geoportal.”
BEV's participation in EuroCarto 2024 (LINK: https://eurocarto2024.org/) underlines not only the importance of the Austrian cartography at European level, but also BEV's commitment to playing an active role in the international professional community.
