Playful Insight into the World of Cartography 28.11.2024 - On Leopolditag, the day off from school, BEV invited the children of its employees to a fun-filled morning with games, magic and lots of interesting facts.
On Friday the 15th of November, the Kids Day of the Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying - BEV took place. 20 children between the age of four and ten - almost twice as many as last year - took part in this special day at the Schiffamtsgasse. The aim of the event was to introduce the young visitors to the exciting world of cartography and at the same time relieve their parents of childcare duties on this school-free day.
The children were able to get to know the BEV and its tasks in a playful way at several stations. They eagerly searched for symbols on maps, assigned federal provinces and recreated symbols. Memory and skill games also provided fun and exercise.
A little refreshment was also provided in between: the staff representatives had prepared a sumptuous buffet of delicacies, which was enjoyed by young and old alike.
The absolute highlight of the day, however, was the performance of the Magician “Gigi”. With his amazing tricks, he captivated the children as well as the adults and caused astonished faces and much applause.
Kids Day 2024 was not only a complete success, but also showed once again how BEV succeeds in combining professional and family interests - and at the same time awakening a great deal of enthusiasm for the world of cartography.
