The positioning service APOS of the Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying - BEV supports digital course setting at Alpine Ski World Cup races.
On June 6, the podcast episode “Die Normalität der Dinge“ went live. Robert Edelmaier, Vice President of the Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying and Head of the Metrology Division, gave an insight into the extensive tasks of the BEV.
The BEV focuses on networking, promoting education and professional exchange with neighboring countries. At the beginning of June, the English-language "Geodesy and Geoinformation" course at the Technical University of Munich visited the BEV, in line with the focus of the course.
At the end of May, the Slovenian Geodesists Association got to know the Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying and its tasks in more detail. The excursion concluded with a trip to the Habsburgwarte.
The municipality of Grein in the Mühlviertel region now also has its own control point for smartphones. The control point was opened on May 23rd at the Donaulände opposite the pier.
This year, World Metrology Day on the 20th of May is dedicated to sustainability.
On April 25, we opened our doors to inspire girls for technical professions. In our laboratories at the Arltgasse in Vienna-Ottakring, young talents were able to experience technology up close and discover exciting career opportunities.
At the annual meeting of the European Geosciences Union on April 17, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying (BEV) and the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) and the new secretariat of the IAG was announced at the BEV.
Now there is also a control point for smartphones in Mittersill. On the 11th of April 2024 the new Zentrumsplatz with a new fountain as well as a control point was opened.
There was great interest in apprenticeships and jobs at the Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying at the BeSt3, the education fair in the Wiener Stadthalle. Many young people showed interest in the possibility of training at the BEV.
